My Coffee Setup

I don’t hide the fact that I’m a coffee snob. This is the gear I use, I’ll update as I keep buying stuff (because I definitely will). Obviously the most important part of the process is having good beans, but I like these tools because they are simple, precise and also nice to look at.
It’s worth noting that being a coffee snob doesn’t necessarily mean I drink a lot of coffee. In general, I go for quality over quantity and I have a personal rule that if I know the coffee is bad, I don’t have one (for example in a random bar). Most days I drink one cup of coffee for breakfast. Black. No milk, no sugar. That’s it.
I use a ceramic Hario V60 Dripper and Hario’s own paper filters (unbleached). I boil and pour water with a goose neck kettle with a thermometer. I like the V60 because it’s simple and it makes it easy to consistently brew a great cup of coffee.
I grind the beans with this Timemore Chestnut C grinder. This was a great upgrade to my setup, it grinds consistently and with very little effort. The adjustment for the size of the grind is done with “clicks” of a screw and the grinder itself has a reference for how many clicks for each brewing method.
I brew straight into my favourite mug from Matimañana. I just love the shape of the wooden handle and the texture of the ceramic. It’s the second one I’ve bought (the first one broke, I’m still mourning it) and I would buy it again.
I weigh the beans and the water with a common kitchen scale. I haven’t felt the need to get a fancier one yet.
Gear I’d like to get
- A Chemex
- A nice looking 1-2 person french press
- A different ceramic dripper, like these Origami ones
- I want to make myself a wooden stand for the V60
